History Of Induction Heating And Melting

by Alfred Mühlbauer, History Of Induction Heating And Melting Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download History Of Induction Heating And Melting books, Based on the remarkable discoveries of the fathers of electromagnetism, induction heating and melting became one of the most advanced methods of material production, modification and manufacturing. Industries that intensively use induction heating include steel, automotive, machinery, aerospace, electronics, crystal growth and some others. New applications are emerging in food and packaging industries, and even in medicine. But who invented induction heating and when did it happen? Various significant developments and methods that played a big role in induction technique are almost forgotten or at least not known to modern engineers. Knowledge of the experience of the previous generations, especially of the works of the pioneers, can reveal many interesting ideas, which were abandoned at that time but could be practical today with more advanced materials, components and technologies. Knowledge of successes and failures of others will help to avoid mistakes and foresee future ways of induction technology expansion. The goal of this book is not to give an accurate chronological list of main events and achievements, but to show dynamics of technology and illustrate it with examples, multiple pictures and references. In July 2006 the world induction community lost one of its most distinguished members - Professor Alfred Mhlbauer-outstanding scientist, engineer, teacher and relentless promoter of Induction Technology. This book is his last imposing and great project, which was completed by his colleagues and friends.

Finite Element Simulation Of Heat Transfer

by Jean-Michel Bergheau, Finite Element Simulation Of Heat Transfer Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Finite Element Simulation Of Heat Transfer books, This book introduces the finite element method applied to the resolution of industrial heat transfer problems. Starting from steady conduction, the method is gradually extended to transient regimes, to traditional non-linearities, and to convective phenomena. Coupled problems involving heat transfer are then presented. Three types of couplings are discussed: coupling through boundary conditions (such as radiative heat transfer in cavities), addition of state variables (such as metallurgical phase change), and coupling through partial differential equations (such as electrical phenomena). A review of the various thermal phenomena is drawn up, which an engineer can simulate. The methods presented will enable the reader to achieve optimal use from finite element software and also to develop new applications.

Electrically Induced Vortical Flows

by V. Bojarevi°s, Electrically Induced Vortical Flows Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Electrically Induced Vortical Flows books, Every scientific subject probably conceals unexplored or little investigated strata, which may show up at the proper time when favourable conditions coincide (practical demands, a circle of scientists prepared to recognize the novelty and capable of giving impetus to the development of a new theory, etc.). Something like this occurred in early seventies for magnetohydrodynamics, which at the time was considered to be a relatively complete branch of hydro dynamics with no apparent broad, unexplored areas. It was unexpectedly realized that, in addition to the traditional methods of affecting an electrically conducting medium, there is yet another way, one which subsequently lead to a new direction in magnetohydrodynamics. In the Soviet scientific literature this direction has been termed 'electrically induced vortex flows', the essence of which are hydrodynamic effects due to the interaction of an electric current passing through the fluid with its own magnetic field. It cannot be said that this direction was created ex nihilo: individual studies related to the flows driven in a current-carrying medium in the absence of external magnetic fields appeared in the sixties; in the thirties the flows them selves were known to take place within electrical arcs; and yet the first observa tions on the behaviour of liquid current-carrying conductors were made at the beginning of this century.
