Your Boss And You

by Dale Murray, Your Boss And You Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Your Boss And You books, Before I get into the purpose of this book, I think that it would be good to discuss what this book is not. If you are looking for a book on being a good leader, this probably is not the book for you, as there are plenty of others that provide more in-depth learning. This book is also not intended to help you to manipulate your boss to allow you to do what you want. If you aren't interested in developing a deeper working relationship with your boss and the hard work that accompanies that task, then this book is not for you. There are no quick fixes here. Some of the methods that I have laid out have taken months to complete, certainly not days. This book focuses on creating a win-win symbiotic relationship with your boss for the betterment of you, your boss, and your organization. The purpose of this book is two-fold. First, to help you to diagnose your boss to determine his strengths and weakness so that you can adequately develop an excellent working relationship. If he is capable of being someone that you can work with, we'll examine how to build that working relationship. Secondly, there are some bosses that you can't work with, no matter how hard you try. It's best to cut your losses and get out. Therefore, we'll examine how to identify which "bucket" he falls in. Hopefully, you can avoid the needless wasted time and effort of working with a boss that is not interested in you rather than meeting his own self-serving goals and using you as a pawn in a chess game. To accomplish the above purposes, I've divided this book into four parts. In part one, I will discuss what a good boss is and the importance of taking charge of your career and looking for an opportunity to work for this person. In part two, I will discuss those bosses that you should consider avoiding. If you work for one of them, you should strongly consider getting out as soon as you can. In part three, I will discuss how to work with those bosses who are neither good nor bad. They are human beings who, like all of us, are flawed. We'll discuss how to identify these flaws and how to work with them to develop a collaborative working relationship. I've labeled parts one through three: the good, the bad, and the ugly. In part four, we'll change gears and discuss how to create more good bosses and less bad ones. We'll do this by looking at what organizations can do as well as what you individually can do.This book is ideally suited for the recent graduate, who has had little experience in the world of work and may not be too sure what he wants to do in his life. I wish that I had this book when I started my career, I may have made some different choices about the bosses that employed me. It is also an excellent resource book when you are working with a new boss, and you can turn to the appropriate chapter to help you to form a good working relationship with him. After reading this book, it's my fervent hope that you will be proactive in finding the good bosses to work for, learn to work with the bosses who aren't so good, and quickly leave the bad bosses that will impede your career success. You shouldn't meekly accept the fact that your boss is creating a miserable work-life for you. Instead, you now have informed choices and options to do something about it.
