Disability And Equity At Work

by Jody Heymann, Disability And Equity At Work Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Disability And Equity At Work books, Despite international and national guarantees of equal rights, there remains a great deal to be done to achieve global employment equality for individuals with disabilities. In OECD countries, the employment rate of persons with disabilities was just over 40%, compared to 75% for persons without a disability; in many low- and middle-income countries, the employment rates are even lower. There are numerous reasons why persons with disabilities fare poorly in the labor market; Disability and Equity at Work is the first book to document what can be done to improve this imbalance. Chapters in this volume address all relevant facets of this topic and include: · Extensive examination of the factors contributing to inequitable access to work among persons with disability · Analysis of the economic benefits of increasing employment equity · Successful employment strategies at every stage of a worker's career · Evidence-based recommendations and in-depth case studies of innovative policies and programs around the world Chapter contributors include leaders from international organizations, government, civil society, and academia, including experts from UN agencies, leaders in nongovernmental advocacy and research organizations, and senior academics in the field. Disability and Equity at Work fills a needed gap that will appeal to those interested in and engaged in public policy, global health, equal rights, business, labor, and other fields.

International Handbook Of Behavior Modification And Therapy

by Alan S. Bellack, International Handbook Of Behavior Modification And Therapy Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download International Handbook Of Behavior Modification And Therapy books, It is particularly gratifying to prepare a second edition of a book, because there is the necessary impli cation that the first edition was well received. Moreover, now an opportunity is provided to correct the problems or limitations that existed in the first edition as well as to address recent developments in the field. Thus, we are grateful to our friends, colleagues, and students, as well as to the reviewers who have expressed their approval of the first edition and who have given us valuable input on how the revision could best be structured. Perhaps the first thing that the reader will notice about the second edition is that it is more extensive than the first. The volume currently has 41 chapters, in contrast to the 31 chapters that comprised the earlier version. Chapters 3, 9, 29, and 30 of the first edition either have been dropped or were combined, whereas 14 new chapters have been added. In effect, we are gratified in being able to reflect the continued growth of behavior therapy in the 1980s. Behavior therapists have addressed an ever-increasing number of disorders and behavioral dysfunctions in an increasing range of populations. The most notable advances are taking place in such areas as cognitive approaches, geriatrics, and behavioral medicine, and also in the treatment of childhood disorders.

Handbook Of Special Education

by James M. Kauffman, Handbook Of Special Education Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Handbook Of Special Education books, Special education is now an established part of public education in the United States—by law and by custom. However, it is still widely misunderstood and continues to be dogged by controversies related to such things as categorization, grouping, assessment, placement, funding, instruction, and a variety of legal issues. The purpose of this 13-part, 57-chapter handbook is to help profile and bring greater clarity to this sprawling and growing field. To ensure consistency across the volume, chapter authors review and integrate existing research, identify strengths and weaknesses, note gaps in the literature, and discuss implications for practice and future research. Key features include: Comprehensive Coverage—Fifty-seven chapters cover all aspects of special education in the United States including cultural and international comparisons. Issues & Trends—In addition to synthesizing empirical findings and providing a critical analysis of the status and direction of current research, chapter authors discuss issues related to practice and reflect on trends in thinking. Categorical Chapters—In order to provide a comprehensive and comparative treatment of the twelve categorical chapters in section IV, chapter authors were asked to follow a consistent outline: Definition, Causal Factors, Identification, Behavioral Characteristics, Assessment, Educational Programming, and Trends and Issues. Expertise—Edited by two of the most accomplished scholars in special education, chapter authors include a carefully chosen mixture of established and rising young stars in the field. This book is an appropriate reference volume for anyone (researchers, scholars, graduate students, practitioners, policy makers, and parents) interested in the state of special education today: its research base, current issues and practices, and future trends. It is also appropriate as a textbook for graduate level courses in special education.

Using Analytical Frameworks For Classroom Research

by Susan Rodrigues, Using Analytical Frameworks For Classroom Research Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Using Analytical Frameworks For Classroom Research books, This introductory collection brings together contributions from a range of international researchers, each working within their own traditions, to explore current perspectives on the use of analytical approaches in education. Providing a close examination of cutting-edge data analysis techniques, each contribution describes a set of tools to assist prospective researchers as they decide which analytical approach or approaches best suit their own research endeavours. Exploring theoretical approaches from both a macro and a micro perspective, each chapter: Outlines the theoretical assumptions of the approach Highlights the constraints and tensions within the approach Contextualises the tradition in which the approach is located Provides data and case studies to illustrate how the approach is used in classroom research and the realities of practice In the final chapter a cross-comparison between the approaches covered is presented, allowing researchers to better understand which approach is most suitable for their project. Essential reading for all those interested in the theory behind the analytical approach, this book will appeal to all postgraduates, researchers, and academics engaged in research in educational settings.
