Perspectives In Representation Theory

by Pavel Etingof, Perspectives In Representation Theory Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Perspectives In Representation Theory books, This volume contains the proceedings of the conference Perspectives in Representation Theory, held from May 12-17, 2012, at Yale University, in honor of Igor Frenkel's 60th birthday. The aim of the conference was to present current progress on the following (interrelated) topics: vertex operator algebras and chiral algebras, conformal field theory, the (geometric) Langlands program, affine Lie algebras, Kac-Moody algebras, quantum groups, crystal bases and canonical bases, quantum cohomology and K-theory, geometric representation theory, categorification, higher-dimensional Kac-Moody theory, integrable systems, quiver varieties, representations of real and -adic groups, and quantum gauge theories. The papers in this volume present representation theory connections to numerous other subjects, as well as some of the most recent advances in representation theory, including those which occurred thanks to the application of techniques in other areas of mathematics, and of ideas of quantum field theory and string theory.

Perspectives In Lie Theory

by Filippo Callegaro, Perspectives In Lie Theory Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Perspectives In Lie Theory books, Lie theory is a mathematical framework for encoding the concept of symmetries of a problem, and was the central theme of an INdAM intensive research period at the Centro de Giorgi in Pisa, Italy, in the academic year 2014-2015. This book gathers the key outcomes of this period, addressing topics such as: structure and representation theory of vertex algebras, Lie algebras and superalgebras, as well as hyperplane arrangements with different approaches, ranging from geometry and topology to combinatorics.

by Jan C. Willems, Perspectives In Mathematical System Theory Control And Signal Processing Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Perspectives In Mathematical System Theory Control And Signal Processing books, This Festschrift, published on the occasion of the sixtieth birthday of Yutaka - mamoto (‘YY’ as he is occasionally casually referred to), contains a collection of articles by friends, colleagues, and former Ph.D. students of YY. They are a tribute to his friendship and his scienti?c vision and oeuvre, which has been a source of inspiration to the authors. Yutaka Yamamoto was born in Kyoto, Japan, on March 29, 1950. He studied applied mathematics and general engineering science at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics of Kyoto University, obtaining the B.S. and M.Sc. degrees in 1972 and 1974. His M.Sc. work was done under the supervision of Professor Yoshikazu Sawaragi. In 1974, he went to the Center for Mathematical System T- ory of the University of Florida in Gainesville. He obtained the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees, both in Mathematics, in 1976 and 1978, under the direction of Professor Rudolf Kalman.

Perspectives In Electronic Structure Theory

by Roman F. Nalewajski, Perspectives In Electronic Structure Theory Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Perspectives In Electronic Structure Theory books, The understanding in science implies insights from several different points of view. Alternative modern outlooks on electronic structure of atoms and molecules, all rooted in quantum mechanics, are presented in a single text. Together these complementary perspectives provide a deeper understanding of the localization of electrons and bonds, the origins of chemical interaction and reactivity behavior, the interaction between the geometric and electronic structure of molecules, etc. In the opening two parts the basic principles and techniques of the contemporary computational and conceptual quantum chemistry are presented, within both the wave-function and electron-density theories. This background material is followed by a discussion of chemical concepts, including stages of the bond-formation processes, chemical valence and bond-multiplicity indices, the hardness/softness descriptors of molecules and reactants, and general chemical reactivity/stability principles. The insights from Information Theory, the basic elements of which are briefly introduced, including the entropic origins and Orbital Communication Theory of the chemical bond, are the subject of Part IV. The importance of the non-additive (interference) information tools in exploring patterns of chemical bonds and their covalent and ionic components will be emphasized.

Interdisciplinary Perspectives In Political Theory

by Mangesh Kulkarni, Interdisciplinary Perspectives In Political Theory Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Interdisciplinary Perspectives In Political Theory books, Interdisciplinary Perspectives in Political Theory offers fresh and thought-provoking perspectives on some of the most pressing public concerns of our times. The volume includes a dozen articles that draw upon a wide spectrum of social sciences and humanities (political science, sociology, international studies, psychoanalysis, philosophy, cultural studies) to explore the historically-grounded contemporaneity and the interdisciplinarity of political theory. It represents the joint endeavour of the editor and twelve outstanding scholars affiliated with renowned academic institutions spanning four continents The contributors shed light on and provide insights into a broad range of issues that are of current relevance in the domains of both theory and practice. The book covers considerable ground as it grapples with a variety of topics (democracy, justice, civil society, torture), thinkers (Camus, Rawls, Habermas, Derrida) and frameworks (marxism, critical theory, public choice, feminism). The central contention of the book is that the destiny of humankind will depend increasingly upon our collective intellectual and practical capacity to shape the global configuration of capital, power and knowledge that is emerging in the matrix of late modernity.

Current Perspectives In Social Theory

by Ben Agger, Current Perspectives In Social Theory Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Current Perspectives In Social Theory books, Current Perspectives in Social Theory presents essays on the major issues in contemporary theoretical work in sociology, providing both a critical overview of the development of major debates and original formulations by specialists working in various fields. Emphasis is put upon the presentation of new developments in special areas. Intended to cover the discipline as a whole, Current Perspectives in Social Theory seeks to maintain a balance between the general and the particular by dividing each volume into two parts, the first consisting of field statements by recognized academics in major areas of sociology, the second consisting of pieces focused on more detailed theoretical issues.
