Titan Of The Shifting Sands

by A. J. J. Murre, Titan Of The Shifting Sands Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Titan Of The Shifting Sands books, Two years ago, Bishop Le Noire was found dead in the halls of his vessel, Titan. His second born son, Noah Le Noire, inherits the massive vessel along with a vast fortune. Unfortunately for Noah, he also unknowingly inherits his father's enemies. Noah is young and surefooted, traversing the dangerous dried-up ocean floor in the great 'dunecruiser.' Though Bishop was an adventurer of sorts, exploring unknown regions and establishing contact with distant lands, Noah has only profiteered from his late father's connections and done little to add to the legacy. He drinks and parties without thought of consequence, evading as much responsibility as possible as he spends most of his voyages in the onboard bar. During this journey to Lima, we follow Captain Noah and some of his crew: a runaway heiress turned nurse, a chivalrous yet schizophrenic mercenary, an experienced first mate who disapproves of Noah's wild lifestyle, and a savage boy who has been taken from his tribe. Meanwhile, in Lima a revolution is brewing, led by the charismatic Brutii. Unbeknownst to Noah, Titan holds the key to the coup's victory. Brutii has waited two long years for his order to be fulfilled, and now Titan brings the final shipment of smuggled weaponry. Will Noah learn the truth behind his father's demise, or will he meet the same fate as he slips into the vortex? 'Titan of the Shifting Sands' is focused on character development and engaging dialog. Infused with humor and wisdom that has been compared to Quentin Tarantino's style. The vivid action sequences are crafted to be suspenseful and unpredictable; you're often left guessing what the outcome will be until the very end. Do you enjoy good old-fashioned adventure and odyssey stories? And do you crave a unique voice and fresh twist in this genre? Then 'Titan' is your book!

Values In Science Education

by Deborah Corrigan, Values In Science Education Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Values In Science Education books, In 2007, the Monash-Kings College London International Centre for the Study of Science and Mathematics Curriculum edited a book called The Re-emergence of Values in Science Education. This book reflects on how values have been considered since this original publication, particularly in terms of socio-cultural, economic and political factors that have impacted broadly on science, technology and society, and more specifically on informal and formal science curricula. Hence, the title of this book has been framed as Values in Science Education: The shifting sands. As in the first book, this collection focuses on values that are centrally associated with science and its teaching, and not the more general notion of values such as cooperation or teamwork that are also important values in current curricula. Such values have indeed become more of a focus in science education. This may be a response to the changing global context, where technological changes have been rapid and accelerating. In such complex and risky environments, it is our guiding principles that become the important mainstays of our decisions and practices. In terms of science education, what is becoming clearer is that traditional content and traditional science and scientific methods are not enough for science and hence science education to meet such challenges. While shifts in values in science education continue, tensions remain in curriculum development and implementation, as evidenced by the continued diversity of views about what and whose values matter most.

The Shifting Sands Of The North Sea Lowlands

by Katie Ritson, The Shifting Sands Of The North Sea Lowlands Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download The Shifting Sands Of The North Sea Lowlands books, Global seawater levels are rising and the low-lying coasts of the North Sea basin are amongst the most vulnerable in Europe. In our current moment of environmental crisis, the North Sea coasts are literary arenas in which the challenges and concerns of the Anthropocene are being played out. This book shows how the fragile landscapes around the North Sea have served as bellwethers for environmental concern both now and in the recent past. It looks at literary sources drawn from the countries around the North Sea (Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, and England) from the mid-nineteenth century onwards, taking them out of their established national and cultural contexts and reframing them in the light of human concern with fast-changing and hazardous environments. The six chapters serve as literary case studies that highlight memories of flood disaster and recovery, attempts to engineer the landscape into submission, perceptions of the landscape as both local and global, and the imagination of the future of our planet. This approach, which combines environmental history and ecocriticism, shows the importance of cultural artefacts in understandings of, and responses to, environmental change, and advocates for the importance of literary studies in the environmental humanities. This book will be of great interest to students and scholars of the Environmental Humanities, including Eco-criticism and Environmental History, as well as anyone studying literature from the Germanic philologies.
