Vatican Ii

by Anthony J. Ciorra, Vatican Ii Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Vatican Ii books, In April 2012, Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut, and Paulist Press co-sponsored a conference celebrating Vatican II's Continuing agenda, focusing on the addresses given at Vatican II's conclusion that challenged the church to spread the council's message. Rather than critique the council documents, the conference explored creative ways in which the energy of the council can be marshaled in establishing the agenda and needs of the twenty-first century. Speakers included: Anthony Ciorra Massimo Faggioli R. Scott Appleby Diana Hayes Roberto Goizueta Michael Himes Sarah Heiman and Peter Denio Nancy Dallavalle John Haught Michael W. Higgins The umbrella theme for the conference was the watershed teaching of the council on the "Universal Call to Holiness." Topics include: how the council has been interpreted over the last fifty years; its vision; messages to rulers, women, the poor and suffering, artists, young people, workers, and scientists; and finally, holiness for our world today. Deacons And Vatican Ii

by Michael J. Tkacik, Deacons And Vatican Ii Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Deacons And Vatican Ii books, The Second Vatican Council committed the Catholic Church to the service of the world when it defined the church to be missionary by nature and a sacrament pointing to and making Christ present to all. Such a vision of the church informed the restoration of the permanent diaconate within the ministerial life of the church—a vocation and participation in Holy Orders endowed precisely with the charism of service. Deacons are called and ordained to serve in the areas of sacrament, word, and charity. This work considers the place and role of deacons in the life of the contemporary church through the lens of the ecclesiological reforms of the Second Vatican Council. Via their preaching, teaching, and sacramental ministry, deacons are uniquely gifted and positioned to empower the lay faithful and advance the church’s engagement with the world, commitment to ecumenism and interreligious dialogue, promotion of peace, and championing of human dignity.

Spiritan Life And Mission Since Vatican Ii

by William Cleary, Spiritan Life And Mission Since Vatican Ii Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Spiritan Life And Mission Since Vatican Ii books, The Second Vatican Council (1962–65) called for the renewal of all religious institutes in the Catholic Church. The Congregation of the Holy Spirit (Spiritans) responded initially under the leadership of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. Different interpretations of Vatican II caused divisions culminating in Lefebvre’s departure from the congregation. From this difficult starting-point the Spiritans sought to redefine themselves in creative fidelity to their founding intention, the spirit of Vatican II, and the “signs of the times.” Spiritan Life and Mission since Vatican II recounts this journey of renewal in three parts: the Spiritan world before Vatican II and the election of Archbishop Lefebvre as superior general in 1962; the “ad experimentum” period culminating with a new rule of life in 1986; and the implementation of this new rule as interpreted through inter-congregational discourse, particularly the general chapters of 1992, 1998, and 2004. The development of thinking on the church’s mission and the congregation’s rediscovery of the founding charisms of Claude Poullart des Places and Francis Libermann provide the parameters for this positive interpretation of the Spiritan journey of renewal. Its evolution in the third millennium into a multicultural, international missionary community of some three-thousand members from over sixty countries in service of the Missio Dei bears testimony to this.

Vatican Ii

by Michael Attridge, Vatican Ii Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format.
