Where Monsoon Never Ends

by M. Pothen, Where Monsoon Never Ends Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Where Monsoon Never Ends books, Extremism, now more widely termed, terrorism, is on the lips of every human being, on the front pages of the world's newspapers everyday and on the screens of news media every moment. But we still long for love and love still thrives. This poetic novel by M.Pothen plunges us directly into the forests, paddy fields and farm lands and leads us through the hilltops, narrow paths, junctions and village homes of the Indian State, Kerala, from the 1960s to the 1980s, describes the delicate and soulful awakening of love in two lives, and has roots in ancient Indian tradition. Can you forgive a terrorist, if he has participated in the murder of your own father? Like the heroine, Ahalya, we live in complicated times, where black and white give way to shades of gray, and in Where Monsoon Never Ends, we hold our breath to witness which will win the battle, love or hate? Like the hero, Arjunan, along with the numerous village characters, we are fighting to win that battle within ourselves. M. Pothen was raised in a village in Kerala, the tiny state in the extreme southern portion of India. Gifted by nature's bliss, surrounded by coconut groves, paddy fields, green hills, valleys, rivers, canals, backwaters, and the never ending monsoons, Kerala embodies the term, "God's own country." Born in 1959 as the youngest and only brother of four sisters, Pothen started writing poems at 18. Many of his poems in his mother tongue have been published and broadcast over local radio stations. Raised by his father, a schoolteacher who left to eternity few years back and mother, who survives, Pothen is a member of the Indian Orthodox Christian Community. After completing his bachelor's degree in Kerala, he started a career as an accountant in the United Arab Emirates in 1985. A father of two boys aged 19 and 21, now he lives in Sharjah, U.A.E and works as chief accountant in a private firm. He is part of the many millions of Overseas Indians for the last 25 years.

A powerful destiny waiting to unfold. Monsoon is the sweeping epic that continues the saga begun in Wilbur Smith's bestselling Birds of Prey. Once a voracious adventurer, it has been many years since Hal Courtney has dared the high seas. Now he must return with three of his sons - Tom, Dorian, and Guy - to protect the East India Trading Company from looting pirates, in exchange for half of the fortune he recovers. It will be a death or glory mission in the name of the crown. But Hal must also think about the fates of his sons. Like their father before them, Tom, Dorian, and Guy are drawn inexorably to Africa. When fate decrees that they must all leave England forever, they set said for the dark, unexplored continent, seduced by the allure and mystery of this new, magnificent, but savage land. All will have a crucial part to play in shaping the Courtneys' destiny, as the family vies for a prize beyond any of their dreams. In a story of anger and passion, peace and war, Wilbur Smith evinces himself at the height of his storytelling powers. Set at the dawn of eighteenth-century England, with the Courtneys riding wind-tossed seas toward Arabia and Africa, Monsoon is an exhilarating adventure pitting brother against brother, man against sea, and good against evil.

Monsoon Diary

by Shoba Narayan, Monsoon Diary Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Monsoon Diary books, Shoba Narayan’s Monsoon Diary weaves a fascinating food narrative that combines delectable Indian recipes with tales from her life, stories of her delightfully eccentric family, and musings about Indian culture. Narayan recounts her childhood in South India, her college days in America, her arranged marriage, and visits from her parents and in-laws to her home in New York City. Monsoon Diary is populated with characters like Raju, the milkman who named his cows after his wives; the iron-man who daily set up shop in Narayan’s front yard, picking up red-hot coals with his bare hands; her mercurial grandparents and inventive parents. Narayan illumines Indian customs while commenting on American culture from the vantage point of the sympathetic outsider. Her characters, like Narayan herself, have a thing or two to say about cooking and about life. In this creative and intimate work, Narayan’s considerable vegetarian cooking talents are matched by stories as varied as Indian spices—at times pungent, mellow, piquant, and sweet. Tantalizing recipes for potato masala, dosa, and coconut chutney, among others, emerge from Narayan’s absorbing tales about food and the solemn and quirky customs that surround it. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Chasing The Monsoon

by Alexander Frater, Chasing The Monsoon Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Chasing The Monsoon books, On 20th May the Indian summer monsoon will begin to envelop the country in two great wet arms, one coming from the east, the other from the west. They are united over central India around 10th July, a date that can be calculated within seven or eight days. Alexander Frater aims to follow the monsoon, staying sometimes behind it, sometimes in front of it, and everywhere watching the impact of this extraordinary phenomenon. During the anxious period of waiting, the weather forecaster is king, consulted by pie-crested cockatoos, and a joyful period ensues: there is a period of promiscuity, and scandals proliferate. Frater's journey takes him to Bangkok and the cowboy town on the Thai-Malaysian border to Rangoon and Akyab in Burma (where the front funnels up between the mountains and the sea). His fascinating narrative reveals the exotic, often startling, discoveries of an ambitious and irresistibly romantic adventurer.
