Wild Capitalism

by Krista Harper, Wild Capitalism Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Wild Capitalism books, Wild Capitalism examines environmental issues in the "New Europe" of the twenty-first century. Specifically, it looks at how the meanings of "civil society" and "environment" have changed as environmentalists encounter the political and ecological realities of life after state socialism. Although environmentalism is a global social movement, environmental politics is a grassroots process in which activists creatively translate environmental issues into cultural idioms and political processes.

Crossroads

by Peter Nolan, Crossroads Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Crossroads books, A timely examination of capitalism's influence on the world and the consequences of its expansion. An important big picture book, containing expert analysis, about recent business events and what that holds for the future. Current financial crisis has forced a complete reassessment of capitalism's role in global business - this book is essential reading for that. Controversial yet authoritative - author provides a platform for saving humanity from the uncontrolled excesses of capitalism. Major review and feature coverage expected in national and business media. Over the past 20 years, the world has undergone nothing less than a global business revolution, driven by the force of capitalism. Yet capitalism is a two-edged sword. It has propelled forward human ingenuity and creativity to a new peak. However, it threatens fundamentally the very existence of the human species. This major book provides an overview of capitalism's global rise and its consequences. The global ecology is profoundly threatened by the uncontrolled energy and material consumption that is at the heart of capitalism. Large global corporations have burst on the scene in pursuit of profits, and have become more important than nation governments. And the revolution in financial markets has produced a system that is essentially 'flying blind' today. Humanity is at a crossroads and disaster is looming. Mechanisms are required to contain the self-created monster of unconstrained global capitalism. About the author - Peter Nolan (recently awarded CBE) is an eminent professor at Jesus College, Cambridge University. He also holds the Sinyi Chair in the Judge Business School and is visiting professor at Copenhagen Business School. He is the author of China and the Global Economy (Palgrave) and advisor to government ministers and CEOs.

Community Capitalism

by Eduard J. Qualls, Community Capitalism Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Community Capitalism books, "Vexed!" Every American's "Bitch List", "Community Capitalism"—market-driven, community-centric, entrepreneurial capitalism—lays out the problems confronting Capitalism, those threatening once again to destroy the economic well-being of the American Nation and all of its allies and associates in Western and World Civilization. From "the Stock Market" to derivatives to banks to lawyers in politics to patenting intangibles to educational failures to unions, "Community Capitalism" lays bare the issues: the internals, the problems and the illogical, human-destructive hubris of profit-before market, divine-right "Greed Capitalism." All American legislation (and that of Western Europe, too) of the past couple of decades has favored the big corporations while putting ever more insufferable demands on small businesses. At the same time, the programs of the first eight years of the century have helped to destroy American education by forcing it into what can only be called Stalinist regimentation. No one is taking responsibility for the multi-billion dollar (and euro) financial fiascos forced on the taxpayers. This has hit the American and the Greek people with taxation imposed without their consent for actions they never agreed to-the gambling that resulted in those horrendous fees. To get the world out of this condition, "Community Capitalism" proposes a basic rethinking, and redirected application of the strengths of Capitalism, to return to community-enriching, stable, progressive commerce allied with the human-centered methods of traditional, pre-"Spreadsheet-Capitalism," pre-derivative-deranged business sensibilities. The primary concept around which this is based is that of "Fiducium," a name coined to encapsulate the spirit of fiduciary responsibility, extended into all aspects of human endeavor. Eduard Qualls calls not only on his advanced business degree, but on his extensive Humanities, historical and linguistic/cultural education, heightened and honed by the experience bestowed by his almost 30 successful years within the computer science industry. Yet it was also his experience of being misused and mal-used by the mindless machinations of fatally financial-operative, mindless mega-corporate America that spurred him to organize within this volume an exposition of that damnable, destructive dysfunction he has been witnessing as it has metastasized during these past 12+ years into the consumptive calamity we must all now contend against. This book will please neither the ultra-conservative nor the ultra-liberal. But it will ring true to all those who in free and generous equanimity love their families, their neighbors and neighborhoods, their commmunities, and their Nation-indeed, all those who cherish the fond hope of a more human, more humane world of opportunity for themselves, their children, and the future of their communities. In this book Mr. Qualls gives voice to all the people in the Western World who are utterly, angrily exasperated with the way the economy and sociable life are being wrecked by wantons, gamblers and wastrels, yet who must remain quiet, silently feeding that frustration because of fear of losing their jobs if they speak out. Yes, he's "Vexed!" And you should be, too!

Greening Of Capitalism

by John A. Mathews, Greening Of Capitalism Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Greening Of Capitalism books, As China, India, and other industrializing giants grow, they are confronted with an inconvenient truth: They cannot rely on the conventions of capitalism as we know them today. Western industrialism has achieved miracles, promoting unprecedented levels of prosperity and raising hundreds of millions out of poverty. Yet, if allowed to proceed unencumbered, this paradigm will do irreversible harm to the planet. By necessity, a new approach to environmentally conscious development is already emerging in the East, with China leading the way. Positioning its argument against zero-growth advocates and free-market environmentalists, Greening of Capitalism charts this transformation and sketches out a framework for more sustainable capitalism. State-mandated changes in energy use (as opposed to carbon taxes), a circular flow of resources (as opposed to emissions standards), and the introduction of new financial instruments that support green growth are cornerstones of China's framework. John A. Mathews argues that these tenets will be emulated around the world—first in India and Brazil. In light of this emerging shift, Mathews considers core debates over national security, international relations, and economic policy, ultimately addressing the question of whether these measures will be far-reaching or timely enough to prevent further damage.

Cognitive Capitalism And Its Reflections In South Eastern Europe

by Vladimir Cvijanović, Cognitive Capitalism And Its Reflections In South Eastern Europe Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Cognitive Capitalism And Its Reflections In South Eastern Europe books, Cognitive capitalism is considered to be a new stage in the historical evolution of capitalism which is undergoing a metamorphosis affecting most of the laws and tendencies characteristic of industrial capitalism. This raises a series of issues tackled in the theoretical part, especially regarding the increased importance of cognitive work and the new composition of the labour market that influence the determinants of the value of goods, the structure of welfare, and the forms of income distribution. A historical analysis is applied to describe the evolution of cognitive capitalism and its endogenous, potentially destabilising, dynamics. The empirical part analyses the diffusion of cognitive capitalism in the former socialist countries of South-Eastern Europe and elsewhere.

Jihad Vs Mcworld

by Benjamin Barber, Jihad Vs Mcworld Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Jihad Vs Mcworld books, Jihad vs. McWorld is a groundbreaking work, an elegant and illuminating analysis of the central conflict of our times: consumerist capitalism versus religious and tribal fundamentalism. These diametrically opposed but strangely intertwined forces are tearing apart--and bringing together--the world as we know it, undermining democracy and the nation-state on which it depends. On the one hand, consumer capitalism on the global level is rapidly dissolving the social and economic barriers between nations, transforming the world's diverse populations into a blandly uniform market. On the other hand, ethnic, religious, and racial hatreds are fragmenting the political landscape into smaller and smaller tribal units. Jihad vs. McWorld is the term that distinguished writer and political scientist Benjamin R. Barber has coined to describe the powerful and paradoxical interdependence of these forces. In this important new book, he explores the alarming repercussions of this potent dialectic for democracy. A work of persuasive originality and penetrating insight, Jihad vs. McWorld holds up a sharp, clear lens to the dangerous chaos of the post-Cold War world. Critics and political leaders have already heralded Benjamin R. Barber's work for its bold vision and moral courage. Jihad vs. McWorld is an essential text for anyone who wants to understand our troubled present and the crisis threatening our future.
