Nicht nur im Berufsleben, auch im Privatleben und in alltäglichen Situationen müssen wir uns häufig anpassen oder gar „verdrehen“ um flexibel zu bleiben und allen Ansprüchen gerecht zu werden. Unsere körperlichen Spannungen entstehen oft aufgrund von Angst, Sorgen und Frustration. Durch das Üben von Drehhaltungen können wir sowohl körperliche Verspannungen wie auch mentale Blockaden lösen und die Qualität des „Loslassens“ erfahren. In der Yoga-Praxis unterstützt uns der Drehsitz (Matsyendrasana) unseren Blickwinkel zu verändern und bietet uns eine geistige Pause. Auf körperlicher Ebene wird die Muskulatur der Wirbelsäule entlastet und gleichzeitig beweglicher. Die inneren Bauchorgane werden sanft massiert und durchblutet. Bereits in der Hatha Yoga Pradipika wird erwähnt: „Matsyendrasana hebt den Appetit, indem sie das Magen-Feuer entfacht und zerstört schreckliche Beschwerden im Körper. Wenn sie durchgeführt wird, lässt sie Kundalini steigen und macht den Mond fest.“ (Hatha Yoga Pradipika, 1,28) Das Üben dieser Asana wird als Partnerübung angeleitet, was ein verbessertes Verständnis nicht nur für uns selbst, sondern auch für unseren Partner gegenüber fördert. Wir haben in der folgenden Stunde durch Partneryoga die Chance, einem anderen Menschen in Augenhöhe mit Herzlichkeit zu begegnen, uns anzulehnen, den Mut zu fassen um Hilfe zu bitten, sowie die Erfahrung diese anzunehmen. Das Prinzip der Verbindung und gleichzeitig des Loslassens wird auf direktem Wege in die Tat umgesetzt.
