Reinterpreting The Eucharist

by Anne F. Elvey, Reinterpreting The Eucharist Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Reinterpreting The Eucharist books, The Eucharist continues to be central to contemporary Christian religious tradition and to be the focus for a wide range of assumptions and disputes. Chief amongst these disputes is the role of women in the theology and the ritual of the Eucharist.Reinterpreting the Eucharist brings together a diverse range of voices with each using their own marginalized experience to explore other ways – indigenous culture, medieval and contemporary art, social history, and environmental ethics – of engaging with the Eucharist. Presenting new forms of theological and ethical engagement, the book responds to the challenge of reconsidering the meaning of the Eucharist today.

Reinterpreting Rahner

by Patrick Burke, Reinterpreting Rahner Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Reinterpreting Rahner books, A key to understanding Rahner's wide-ranging theology is what the author calls a "dialectical analogy" -- a unifying concept that helps Rahner hold in distinction the traditional antinomies of Christian thought: God and the world, spirit and matter, grace and nature. In this book the author examines the dialectic of each of the major themes of Rahner's theology, showing that it is an indispensable key to this thought. But he also exposes a very real tension within the system that threatens the complex balance of Rahner's theological vision.

Symbol And Sacrament

by Louis Marie Chauvet, Symbol And Sacrament Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Symbol And Sacrament books, This work comes at an opportune hour: a time in which many complain that contemporary theology lacks a general theory of sacraments. Chauvet charts a reorientation in sacramental theology from the scholastic treatments, which appropriated the metaphysical categories of causality and substance to develop an essentially instrumentalist appreciation of grace, in favor of an approach through the category of symbol." In this approach the subject is as much "grasped" (and transformed) by the symbolic representation as is the object being interpreted. Chauvet commands a wealth of scholarship which he deploys to powerful effect. His work in developing a foundational theology of sacramentality will remain the standard for years to come. "

Dialectical Anatomy Of The Eucharist

by Donald Wallenfang, Dialectical Anatomy Of The Eucharist Books available in PDF, EPUB, Mobi Format. Download Dialectical Anatomy Of The Eucharist books, For centuries, Christian theology has understood the Eucharist in terms of metaphysics or in protest against it. Today an opening has been made to imagine the sacrament through the method of phenomenology, bringing about new theological life and meaning. In Dialectical Anatomy of the Eucharist, Donald Wallenfang conducts a sustained analysis of the Eucharist through the aperture of phenomenology, yet concludes the study with poetic and metaphysical twists. Engaging the work of Jean-Luc Marion, Paul Ricoeur, and Emmanuel Levinas, Wallenfang proposes pioneering ideas for contemporary sacramental theology that have vast implications for interfaith and interreligious dialogue. By tapping into the various currents within the Judeo-Christian tradition--Jewish, Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant--a radical argument is developed that leverages the tension among them all. Several new frontiers are explored: dialectical theology, a fourth phenomenological reduction, the phenomenology of human personhood, the poetics of the Eucharist, and a reinterpretation of the concept of gift as conversation. On the whole, Wallenfang advances recent debates surrounding the relationship between phenomenology and theology by claiming an uncanny way out of emerging dead ends in philosophical theology: return to the fray.
